FARO

Faro is the administrative centre for the entire Algarve region and is a particularly attractive town. Its old part is still surrounded by Roman walls dating back to the 9th century. Nowadays much of the city is composed of attractive shops, exciting sights and a theatre holding various performances. Faro is also home to the Ria Formosa lagoon, which is a nature reserve spread over 17.000 hectares. Hundreds of different birds stop here during spring and autumn.
